anybody useing the duramax 16 hp engine? im looking for a engine for my g2, looking at the predator 420 and the duromax 16 hp the duramax is cheaper, but i don,t know anything about it

Aftermarket parts for Duromax are harder to make work on Yamaha G2/G9market Carbs, spacers, and air cleaners. Other than that **** angled carb port, the engines are basically the same as far as aftermarket parts.

On the vegascarts site they warn the ARC billet connecting rod may not work on the Duromax engine. Someone on this site also had the problem with the ARC rod and a Duromax.

I like the lifan from home depot but that is what I run. It does now come with ut2 and a 4K rev limit unless you buy the nr racing coil. The ut2 advances the timing. This spring they were on sale for 260 or something for the 420 recoil.

I'm running the "18hp" 440cc Duromax on my garden tractor. Blew snow a couple times last winter, mowed grass all this summer, about 20 hours on it now. So far, so good.

Some of them you have to clearance. I ground a spot out of my balance shaft in the lifan 420 to clear the Vegas rod. It cleared the block but not by a lot, still .050 or something witch is plenty in engine speak. I think it would have cleared the balance shaft but I could not see in there well and didn't want to risk it. As they both spin past it was hard to judge or get a gauge in there to measure. There is a cutout in the shaft but its offset, so I just made it a little longer to line up with the new rod better.

Anyway clearance is only issue I have heard of, there could be something else I guess. Of course I had to cut my piston shorter to fit since the Vegas rod is longer.

Did you end up getting the Duromax Engine? Just bought a 440 18HP for my G1 cart and started it to break it in but haven't really run it yet. Very excited. Would love to hear others experience..
