My G2 is being SB'ed....
Hey folks, Well...ole j38 won't quit fouling plugs. burns about a qt of oil in 2 days.. has TONS of compression and blow-by.. lol No joke, when it runs it does fine..but smokes worse than a 2 stroke..
So recently I acquired a free gx270 (a real Honda, not. a. clone.) and I've been fitting it to the cart. Im working on motor mount right now, and ill need a clutch very very VERRYYY soon. I've been browsing the sponsors here.. its down to 2 choices. (going with 780R) Vegas Carts has them for 248 and the other site has them for 249. 1 dollar difference, big deal.. lol Has anyone ever installed the VC version on a small engine? Maybe Aaron can chime in and lemme know if it'll be ok outta the box for my lil gx270? ill be working on my motor mount very soon. Sadly, I cannot afford to dump 250 bucks on a clutch, and then another 100 on a mount and then ANOTHER 100 on that start/gen mount.. (I will say, VC has some nice options though..). single income household, 3 kids and a wife...yeaahhh....spreading it pretty thin.. this is an economy swap.. sadly... (otherwise id have a big bad big HP clone to drop in...) I also gotta work on exhaust, had to remove exhaust and intake to get it sitting in cart..but I got a few ideas kicking around in my Mellon on those. thats the least of my worries. I wanna get mount semi-figured up! If anyone has any clone Motor mount photos id greatly appreciate that! Thanks folks. Stay tuned! |

I made mine with a couple bars of steel and piece of tubing, and a mig welder. The clutches fit clones are 1" shaft so make sure yours is also 1".

You can try to sell the engine whole or pieces to recuperate some of your money.
Muffler clutch ignition parts are good they hold some value |

thats what I intend to do skoal, seems as though whole motors go cheap but parts hold their value.

What is the shaft size of your new motor? You can reuse your OEM clutch if it is still functional. Just need an adapter.

Double check the shaft size of the 270cc. It might be a 3/4" shaft. If so, you might still need an adapter. I rarely recommend that adapters or OEM clutch but in your case it might be a reasonable option. You gotta think, your OEM engine and new 270cc engine have roughly the same amount of power. It is a lot of work for what you get in return but that's another topic of discussion. |

Re: My G2 is being SB'ed....
the gx270 uses a 1" shaft. I've already checked. Its in the garage awaiting parts. haha.
yah, it aint no hot rod or high horsepower engine, but I'm not concerned. Its mainly for my boy. I just wanted a clutch that would be adjustable if needed and had the ability to have the stall speed adjusted. the "low rpm engagement" of the OEM clutch sucked. If you tried to pull out on a hill it was like a gutless turd. |
