420 build advice
I have a brand new predator 420cc that will be going in a lifted golf cart with 22” tires running a vegas carts 780r tuned clutch. Was looking to put a Vegas Carts cam, rod, push rods, valve springs, rockers, flat top piston, and anything else that I may be missing. Which of these would you recommend for the most hp from the 1800-5500 rpm range. Looking for all around power, torque and top end. I have a 32mm pumper carb as well. Would the push rods stay the same length? Which rockers would you recommend? Thanks in advance for your advice.

Re: 420 build advice
If you hadn't already bought the 420 I'd say buy a ready to go 460 from Vegas Carts. by the time you get all that done you'll have as much if not more that what one cost. I'm here to say that the 460 is one awesome specimen of an engine.
Other than that I'd say you'll need pretty much everything on your list to get where you're wanting to be. I understand if you just want to build the engine yourself. |

Wasn’t sure on the push rods length will they remain the same stock length? Also which rocker ratio do you gents recommend?

Re: 420 build advice
If you want the max the 1.3's shaft mounted units are the way to go are the way to go but cost $130 from NR racing. The more affordable 1.1's come from Vegascarts and are less than $30. In either case new longer and stronger push rods are needed.

Re: 420 build advice
Now for cams. I was looking at Vegas carts $49.99 cam with .260 lift .246 duration vs NR Racing has a $119.99 cam with.280 lift and .246 duration. What’s the pros and cons between the two? Would there be a sacrifice of low end with the Nr cam? By the way the cart was a 00 ss club car that I fitted with a g16 rear end. Kept the leaf springs. So it is kinda light since it’s mostly aluminum.

Re: 420 build advice
The VC cam is really for golf carts the other is probably more aimed at go karts. Also bear in mind you have the weaker 7 bolt crankcase and not the HD 10 bolt unit from VC. You may not want to do a max rpm build with that unit. While looking up that cam I see more than ever Russell is stressing with yellow high lighter about flywheel explosions with stock cast units.
