Default Lifan swap, can't lower my rpm's

Thanks for all the help I've received from this forum! I have a 88' club car with the lifan engine. Bought the big block kit from Vegas, had a falling out with them and my cart is still not running the way it should.

I bought a genuine Honda 390 carb with the proper adjustment screws, but I still cannot lower my rpm's. THey are still around 1,600. Can anyone offer a suggestion pls?

Pics incoming, thanks so much!

A cheap digital one. I could take a picture and post it in a little bit.

I was asking because most have different settings you program in to handle a variety of engines.

If it is programmable, are you sure you have it on the correct setting?

What happens if you disconnect all the linkage to the carburetor and hold it closed? I'm trying to see if its an adjustment or some other issue. Have you backed off the friction nut on the throttle lever so it moves freely? Looks like your in need of a new throttle cable. I go to Kmart or Walmart and buy the bicycle brake cable replacement kit. The ones I get have 4 or five cables in it. 7-8 dollars and you can make 2-3 throttle cables.

I am positive. I cannot shift into gear, it needs to be about 500 rpm’s lower.

It needs to idle about 950-1100 rpm --- and about 1-1/2" to 2" of flexion -- should shift with no problems. If you can't there's other issues. Have you checked the oil in the gearbox? I run a real heavy weight oil so there's a little drag on the gears. I run 90 weight and stp mixed.

So, took off the linkage to the carb and I was able to hold it flush to the idle screw. Was able to get 1100 no problem. THe issue as I see it, is the linkage is too short to allow the carb to be flush with the idle screw. Can I get a longer linkage?
