Did you remove the governor? Or is this stock configuration on the hf420?

the govener is still hooked up, the way i did it is i put a strong spring between tha gov, arm and the throtel cable so i can overide the gov, if i want to slow it down i just put a weeker spring on it, it works great, i can make it run like a regular cart or haul ***

If you did 28 with 18s that is screaming, or it has HS gears. With 22s my G9 does 31mph gps floating the valves, its all stock 420 lifan with the governor removed. Its around 4400 rpm. I've hit 38 with my modded 420 G9 at just over 5K rpm, with 22s, before I put the Vegas cam and rod in. Not been able to road run it and the carb is not working like I want, going to try a different one. I did hit 34gps in a hay field. It should run 40 no problem when sorted out, though I never go that fast in normal use.

Most carts can fit a 20x8 lawn tire, maybe 20x10 or with a small spacer.

I have a pair of 22x11-8 Sahara Classics on the back of my Club Car DS and 20x10-8's on the front with no lift but it's fairly close. No idea how fast it goes because I haven't installed the 13 HP clone I bought for it yet. Not sure I'm gonna use it now actually. I have several small engines to choose from, incl a 12 HP Kohler that starts and runs super sweet and idles down to barely running, and once it's started no choke is required for the rest of day. Both characteristics are the exact opposite of how the clone in my EZGO behaved out of the box. It had to be choked on a hot day every time it was started and a low idle for shifting is difficult to achieve in a timely fashion. I usually shut it off then catch it just before it dies to get the transaxle to shift. I bought an adjustable carb and it's semi-fine now but the hassle makes the Kohler hard to beat.

Even 28 mph would be too much for my old EZGO. It just has the stock drum brakes, suspension and steering. Any faster than about 15 mph feels like a potential trip to the ER. I extended the front axle 3" for tire clearance but the somewhat longer wheelbase didn't make any difference in the stability. I still have the original stock shocks on it so maybe better ones would improve things but I have no need to go fast anyway. My cart is basically a poor man's Gator and is used to help maintain about 3 acres of turf and trees around the homestead. I also use it to roam around the 300 acres of farmland my father owns that surround my place. This cart is a work in progress. I've made significant changes to it every year for the 8 years I've had it. This year's mod is the TXT cowl. At this point the only parts left on it from the cart I originally bought are the front axle, springs and steering, plus the front half of the rear fenders. I cut them off so I could mount the box directly on the frame and then made some wide fenders for it. It has a genuine Honda 240 cc engine (8 HP) in it now. Plenty of ponies for what I use it for. I had a 13 HP clone it at one point but I had a rocker arm issue and dropped the 8 horse in it while I fixed the problem. The Honda worked so good I never bothered swapping back. This cart has a 4" lift or the 26x12-12 All Trails on the back would never have fit. Back wheels are from a Cub Cadet. Some models have the correct bolt pattern. Fronts are 22x11-8 Sahara Classics.
