It uses a cast aluminum rod that has no bearings.

Some posts compare the lifan as better quality than predator,, are other parts more refined than predator?

Other than some of the lifans having a real charging system I not sure that anything else is proven. The down side of the later lifans is the UT-2 flywheel and coil that have a built in limiter that is expensive to replace.

I doubt you would find a lawn engine with any other type rod than alum, that is all that is needed for 3600 rpm. IMO the Lifan is one of the better clones if it meets your needs. Mine is still running with a vegas rod and cam in it, cut piston for the longer rod, head ported and cut, bolt on mods, 32mm CV carb at moment. If you want better try to get a VC460 if they have any, it comes with many upgrades including the rod and cam and a beefier block. Champion is another good clone but not sure where you would find one, and there is not a lot of differences between them. Lifan is the largest small engine maker in the world because they don't sell junk, but clones are clones, given they are pretty good these days. Predator are not bad or anything lot of people use them in carts, but not sure they are great either. Most clones are better now than years ago when some of them blew a rod if you didn't break them in for a while. Some predator are hemi head that is different, and you can't use typical clone head parts in some cases if you plan to mod the engine.
