Default Clutch for Honda clone swap?

I tried to search through the threads, but for some reason I can't use the search feature? Anyways I'm doing a 16hp Honda clone swap on a 1985 ezgo marathon. I see that most people are using the 780 clutch. I know that I don't want to use my stock clutch. So is the 780 my only option. Im mainly going to use the cart for riding off-road. I didn't know if I could use any 40 series clutch.

Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to BGW. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in it...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's, wives’, husbands, girlfriend’s and boyfriends here don't care....and take it easy.

oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.

Welcome!!

Check Vegascarts , a sponsor here and check out the 780 and a newer stronger clutch. The series 40 cluch is more for something like a go kart.

The 780 Spider is the best clutch for the dollar and has the ability to be adjusted for engagement rpm. I'm using them on 3 projects. The 780 uses a 1-3/16" belt, You can get a 1-1/4" on them. The 40 series uses a very small belt - not worthy to use an a golf cart.
