Default Radical Ryder - A 460 Powered G2 Modified

I'm going to be 65 in a few months and my health is running poor but I still have one build to complete. I'm hoping to get to run it.
This is a Radical Ryde built from a G2 chassis that's been re-enforced - stretched 7-1/2" in the rear and 3-1/2" in the front. 7 inches to the floor from the ground with double wishbone suspension in the front that's fully adjustable. 4 wheel disc brakes from Jake's and WilWood and a Polaris rack and pinion unit. I think I finally have a way to use my supercharger, this is going to be a rear engine over the rear differential. This is been a long time coming together. I had parts for the front suspension cut with a water jet - took 5 weeks to get them back to me.
I have to set the camber and caster with a magnetic degree angle finder. After that's set I can cut the tie-rod bars for each side.
It has 25x8x12 GCB Afterburner Street Force Radials, same on the rear only 25x10x12 wider. DOT approved rims and tires. My wife is the best, she helps me get what needs done completed. Without her this wouldn't happen.

I moved the rear differential back 7-1/2" for the tires to clear the chassis. When I cut loose the swing arm the bolts were impossible to remove from the bushing so I removed them and made aluminum bushings. Very tight fit, was a pain in the butt getting it in place. I got to use a set of shocks I had to pull off my other ride cause it was too stiff the was it was setup.
The engine cradle is going to be over the rear and tighten the belt by sliding back. I have a slide plate I have to re-slot the holes longer and wider. I have a set of VC's Dog Bones engine strap nut plates and they have worked in my truck without issue. I got 4 of the round rubber engine mounts used in a club car to mount my engine slide plate. It's going to be a slow project -- but building is so much fun.

Just got another 80 feet of steel tubing. It's amazing how fast your materials get used.

The frame is a combination of a Yamaha G2 and a Yamaha Virago 750. I used the steering crown of the motorcycle to make a steering column so it has some kind of serial numbers. It's called a Cycle Car special constructed vehicle.

Doubly like it as I am a BIG ironhead fan. IMHO best sounding Harley ever especially when the has some more done to them. I guess that is why I built the bobber.

I figured out my Ackermen angle and made my spindle steering arms. I had to cut and shorten the tie rod to the right length. I turned an aluminum rod into spacers so I can keep my tie rods level. Rack and pinion steering seems easier to setup then a traditional steering box. The front end is completely adjustable and will aid in hi-speed handling. The shock towers need adjusting and after the front firewall frame is finished the rest of the frame will connect the towers to the front main frame. More pictures on the way.

I didn't what the firewall and dash frame to have square corners. I tried slotting 1" square 16 gauge tube -- 11 slots and it made a perfect 90 degree corners -- light welding filled what was left of the slots. Not sure what this will weigh but its strong. I'm going to try some 1"x2" and make corners for the frame behind the seat.

Here's a few pictures of the steering column made from the steering crown of a Yamaha Virago. I used 3/4" u-joints and 3/4" tubing for the steering shaft that turns a Polaris rack and pinion unit.

I've got the engine mount started, the back is bolted on the swing arm with 3/8" heavy duty exhaust clamps. I have to finish the front frame and add some struts to the front to absorb the torque. I used Vegas Carts rubber mount pads for a Club Car. They should add the hardware to the rubber mounts or at least tell you there metric and the size. I had to order lock nuts that fit. They say hind sight is 20-20 -- this one I'm overcoming my mistakes or the "I wish I'd done that differently.

The only part about building a toy like this is after it's all built -- you have to take it apart to blast and paint.
