Default Predator 670 end play at crank

Just purchased the HF Predator v twin and before taking out of the box I checked for crank shaft end play. Is it normal to have any? I have about 1/16th” in and out, no wobble. Thanks.

Hoping someone would have chimbed in by now. Small amount of end play is normal I am told. The play I have is more like 1/32” or less. I am purchasing the HF 1 yr warranty as well. Been told by many this is a good idea.

End play is measured with a dial indicator -- 1/16 of an inch is .0625 -- that IMO and engine building experience is way to much. A 3406 425hp Caterpillar engine has only .030 max. Watch some of ARC's videos on crank setup and learn for your self that I speak the truth. I wouldn't use my micrometer eyeball to measure something that critical. I just checked the Briggs and Stratton spec chart http://www4.briggsandstratton.com/mi...art_ms3992.pdf and numbers as low as .002 and .030 max are for the V twins.

Thanks for replying, yes I was guessing how much play. No way to measure and I work with wood so 1/8,1/16,1/32, is the norm for me. Yes I believe you. Thanks again

It's good to ask if you think there's a problem.

Shepard, I went back to Harbor Frieght and started pushing and pulling on every display engine crank and they all have that small amount of play, from the smallest engine to the largest. I bought the 1 yr warranty just to be sure and feel good about it. The cashier said see you in 1 yr and 90 days and you can have a brand new v twin. 649 for the engine and 145 for the warranty, 653 for the VC install kit, life is good and parts go in tonight.

That's the way to do it, plan ahead. I know you'll be happy, the 22 hp engine will have massive torque.

I installed it yesterday. Pretty well dialed in, motor has settled down and idles nicely. I am so happy with everything. VC install kit is excellent!!
