Honda Odyssey FL250 Meets Ezgo Golf Cart
Greetings new friends.
My build will be 1979 Honda Odyssey FL250 dune buggy. The FL250 is an 250cc unit. My plan is to cut the back half of the Odyssey off. Fab the back half into swing arm. Fab the swing arm into the Ezgo golf kart. The Odyssey frame is half inch shorter than the Ezgo electric frame. This back half section can be built on the bench. It’s give me engine, disc brakes, drum parking brake. Drive and driven clutches. Axle, engine, hubs, exhaust, air cleaner. Along with rear suspension. No headache over lining everything up. Rock solid reliability as well. You might ask why? I have a hoard of Honda Odyssey parts, projects etc. I am bigheadody on YouTube and have been restoring these machines for 10 years now. Plus I have not seen this Odyssey/golf cart attempted yet. Plus I have all the parts and don’t have to buy and fab all of the above. A guy can pick up these Odyssey as none running for a few hundred bucks. Running and beat to crap from $500. I was wanting to fab the front half into the Ezgo as well. My problem is the Odyssey turning radius is horable at best. I can grind the steering stops to gain. But not sure how much it will help. I can easily move the steering Column over and shorten and lengthen the tie rods. Still pondering what to do. The Odyssey has top speed of 50mph. This will be the speed of the cart for nothing has changed. So from what I am reading learning steering upgrade is a must. I also thought about just putting the cart body on the whole Odyssey frame. But my cart is metal body and longerthan the Odyssey. Which could be lengthened but effecting my turning radius even more. I added below post for more pics of what I am working with. Enjoy. Any feedback good or bad is welcome. |

Cool idea, one concern may be the increase in weight.

Like the idea of using the whole Oddessy powertrain. Seems well designed for the task. Surprised there is not more done like this.

Very good question. All that comes to mind is the Odyssey front suspension is way over built. Very heavy duty. Check out the j arm and spindles. Probably more performance than anything.

I search the web pretty good. I cannot find this set up done. It’s sure is compact unit as far as for a swing arm. The fabrication work saved is unbelievable really. Even gas tank and it’s mounts. |
