Default GX390 wiring and throttle help

Hi everyone, brand new to BGW as well as owining a golf cart. Just picked up a G2 with a bad motor so I知 putting in a Honda GX390. I purchased the install kit from Vegas Carts but I知 a little unclear on the wiring. Do I still use the stock CDI box and if so how are the connections made to the 390? Also, I知 planning on bypassing the governor on the rear transaxle but curious if anyone has pictures of how they routed the throttle cable directly to the motor. Thanks in advance for any help.

I bumped my clone throttle thread up where the stock throttle cable from the pedal is used. The clone needs no wiring from the cart except a means to kill the engine. Sho has an excellent sticky about this. Only other note is make sure your fuel system is up to snuff.

Your clone needs 4 wires to operate correctly. + and - battery cables -- one wire to the magneto kill wire to stop and one wire to trigger the solenoid to start. For best results hook the negative cable directly to an engine mount bolt then onto the frame to make the whole frame ground. I listed the proper key switch that grounds the kill wire to ground and the wire harness to wire it.

For under 10.00 dollars you can buy a brake cable kit to replace all the cables on a bicycle. The long cables can be used to make a new throttle cable. I cut up my old cable for the threaded adjusters at the ends of the cable housing. I used parts from a go kart throttle kit for the cable attachment part

You only need to wire the engine if you are using the elec start on the clone. You will need a kill relay to kill it, just a 5 pin automotive relay they are cheap.

I made a lever to run the throttle with the stock cable from pedal, it worked fine, used the stock rod on the clone to the carb. Now I have a scooter carb on there and the cable goes to that.

If you pull the governor out of the engine, then get the valve springs from Vegas that cost little, and should not have to worry about rpm with no governor. I tapped the hole 3/8 and put a set screw in it, don't tap it all the way.

I知 planning on using the stock pedal start on the cart so I知 guessing the wiring is going to be a bit more difficult. And yes, the valve springs are on their way. Great idea to tap and plug the hole. Thanks for the help.

If you use the start/gen and pedal start its factory wiring.
