Default Help hooking up clone charging coil to charge battery.

Ok guys need some help I have a duromax 18hp 440cc engine with electric start. Trying to figure out how to hook up the charging coil to charge the battery. The charging system is just one wire iv removed the low oil wiring and I'm not using the switch box that came with the engine. I got a universal switch from part store that I have wired. Positive from battery to battery post on switch starter solenoid to the starter post on switch. Then I have a big wire to starter solenoid positive to battery positive. Then engine ground to the battery negative and a frame ground to battery negative. But no clue how to hook up the single wire to charge the battery. Oh and I have a toggle switch hooked for a kill switch to the coil. Thanks for any advice on hooking this up.

Inside the key switch is a rectifier to change AC to DC to charge the battery. You will burn out the charge coil hooking it up directly to the battery.

You need the diode, in most clones its just a little bump in the wire. They also put a breaker on it in case something shorts, like anything you put on a battery (or use a fuse). In the 3A charge clones I've seen its a diode soldered in the wire. If you have a larger charging system it will be a rectifier usually they are square and finned metal. Few clones have larger charging of 18-20A range. A rectifier is basically multiple diodes, but larger charging than around 4-6A you get a voltage regulator with a rectifier in it, so it can stop charging and not damage the battery. People call those rectifiers or VRs.
