34mm Mikuni on a 670 on a lifted club car.
Received in the mail a 34 mm Mikuni. Installed on the cart and is way too rich on all jets. Ordered a jet kit and will play with it. Also took some picks of the cart. Will post results when I get it tuned.

That is a cool looking carb set up. Looking forward to how well it performs. I have a Mikuni VM 34 on my Harley cart with the SuZuki 440 snow mobile engine. I don't know if these #'s will help or not. Main jet 290,pilot jet 22.5 with my needle set in the leanest grove. The funny part of this is when I first ran this set up the jets were in there from the snowmobile itself, When I welded on the harley golf cart muffler it ran very rich. I merely moved the needle from the middle grove to the top grove and the engine ran perfectly.I was amazed at how much moving the needle changed the mixture. I was never that lucky on any motorcycle jet tuning with Mikunis.

Thanks ray. The jets should be in this Friday. The kits has all the ranges you are using. I’ll post some pics when it’s done. And hopefully a video.

Have been thinking about going to a 34 Mikuni on my VC 625. What does your throttle cable setup look like? That seems to be the hardest part of this swap.

I don't have pictures - I buy bicycle brake cable kits that that have 4-5 cables in it. They have a variety of cables and cable ends. Use the factory end on the carb slide and a clamp on end at the pedal. You will need to cut up the original cable to get the housing end to mount it into the pedal. Yo can make a seamless throttle cable using my idea. If you need help on a clamp on cable end, PM me.

Re: 34mm Mikuni on a 670 on a lifted club car.
I have a 32mm CV pumper on my 420 clone, with VC460 cam and rod in it and worked head but stock valves. I had to mod the slide spring (I tied part of it together to reduce pressure) to make it open more to get top end, still not sure it works right at top end when I pulled 41mph gps it got to 38 and hung then after couple hundred yards it picked up and hit 41 with more rpm. 38 is roughly 5200 when I used to have a tach on it.
So now I got a scooter 30mm slide carb with a pumper on it also. They cost more (the cv was 85, this one was cheaper) but makes starting a breeze. This looks like a mikuni round slide copy of some kind. It takes the same jets as the CV which I have a set of. I made an adapter to fit in on my custom intake, but it needs a while new cable setup I have to fabricate so not got to that yet. It runs pretty good with the CV, actually starting and driving it around up to 35mph is perfect it runs nicer than the stock clone carb without doubt, more response, smoother, idles down to comp release, its nice. I may swap it to the stock 420 cart later I think it would run on there really nicely, but I'd have to make up an intake for that too. I have the carb in front of engine. Pics at end of this thread someplace: http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/clone...-clone-bb.html Anyway please post how it goes, I am convinced that a MC style carb works much nicer on a cart and are easier and more capable to tune. The lawn carbs have little adjustment and most have no intermediate jets you really need in this use. I had to richen this CV quite a bit but it runs much nicer for normal use, even a cheap smaller one I think would work better on a stock lawn engine. |

Jets are still an no show. I ordered a legit throttle cable for it. I am currently working on setting it up on the pedal linkage.

I would like to do the same on a 625 but am puzzled how to mount it. Can't find adapters that confirm they would mount up.

The 460 mounts have the same pattern as the 625. Remember some of us are running the 625 carb on our 460s. Space in the engine compartment itself will probably will be the issue. Even 460's in yamahas have very limited space for a mikuni. On page 4 of my Vc 460 build is my set up with the CVK carb. The mikunis would mount the same way.

Re: 34mm Mikuni on a 670 on a lifted club car.
As Ray said, the bolt pattern for the 460 and 625 is the same. So this kit from NR racing has all the required components. Since real estate will end up being tight, I would machine the manifold down to the absolute minimum and also trim the flex pipe to the shortest possible length. This may buy enough room to cram it all in there. Still may require a creative air filter solution though.
