Who makes the best / most affordable conversion swap kit out there ?

I have a G9 that just blew the motor . I would like to go with a replacement clone but not sure which kit to get . I would prefer to stay away from a twin cylinder . And input i will be grateful. I have the mechanical ability and welding skills , just no machine shop access. Thank yous in advance .

The big block install from Vegas Carts was top notch. Had a decent set of instructions and the cart only required minor modifications to make that huge engine fit. Would do it again in a second.

We put a Vegas in a stretch marathon, easy install, our only problem was the muffler, took to a local shop for a welded exhaust upgrade. The front tires will lift off the ground. very affordable

Depends on what work you want to do and what budget you have. I put put a $300 clone 420 in, made the mount used adapter on the clutch, got a yard muffler and airbox, had about 400 cash in it but it took a while to do. You can buy a the mount from Vegas and cut a lot of time and welding. You can move up to the 460 its a lot faster. You can get the other one its larger and more torque. You can go to the HF twin its not that expensive, really the install is not much different at all other than exhaust and details. The vanguard is great engine and more expensive, lot of performance stuff out there for them too like the clones (gx390/420/440/460) have. Usually the largest pain with clones is getting the exhaust right, or quiet.

With my G9 yamaha the stock 420 home depot clone had about twice the power, it would spin big knobby 22s in the dirt, it was certainly 300% the fun of stock. Now it has rod and cam and stuff, it goes over 40mph but I rarely do speed runs that fast its not really up to it. I built it up to run trails where you gas it to the next turn and few of the trails have room and smooth enough to get over 30mph much....which is fine until I get a ATV front put on it. But other projects have gotten in the way.

I'd look at the HF twin for my next cart if I get one, it has lots of power. Only issue is they don't rev high without performance parts so you don't get much more speed unless you put HS gears in. Only the 460 will rev high stock, though a vanguard will get up there some with only a rev kit. Any other clone you need to put a rod in to get a lot of rpm without blowing it. I ran 38mph with my 420 stock crank and cam, worked head, big carb, 1.3 rockers, header. But I rarely run a road and wind it out, I only run up to 30mph 99% of the time. It never blew in 3-4 years of use. If it was road run it would have.

The cheapest way to get your cart going is usually to find a 420 on sale, they used to be $300 or less not sure today. The 420 is most popular so price/power is often the best (some use the 440 too), you need at least the stock 10-12hp and those are around 15hp. The extra size helps torque to get a heavy cart moving especially if you have larger tires. Then you either buy a mount and save time or make one. Watch what airbox they have for some carts like Yamaha it can end up hitting the shock in back. I got the hurricane style (filter over the carb) you can rig that up with an elbow and pipe the box elsewhere. Mine is a lifan from home depot online. You can soup these things up the vegas 460 is basically that with HD block and a great deal if you want that. But a 420 can run virtually like stock and use stock clutches just more power. It can be a chore to get them quiet. You need to keep the stock gen in there as most clones don't charge much unless you buy the more expensive one with 18A charge or add a small alternator. You will have to jet the carb to get it running right usually or get the adjustable jet. Vegas has a lot of stuff for this and usually great pricing. I made my mounts just saying a bought one is much easier and faster, my mount is posted on here. 2012, wow my cart is getting old lol. This is the second one I put in and got a little fancier with it, had a header made, eventually I modded the engine a lot it has a cam and rod now and hit 42 mph gps. Still trying to make a cable mount to put a different carb on it right now a 30mm slider, it had a 32mm CV I had some issues with. The first cart is still stock carol stream 420 and still runs great.

i see the lifan with eletric start has 18a charging systom for just shy of 400 bucks.
that would eliminate the need for starter gyn bracket and im sure the electric start could be taped into and put on the dash.
then could use $30 adapter for using stock clutch
