Default Engine Mounts

Has anyone built there cart mounting there 460 with no rubber engine mounts? If so -- what type of vibrations are experienced when running?

My club car ds just had a metal plate mounted straight to the original mounting plate with no rubber isolation mounts. I didn't notice much difference at all after taking the stock engine out and putting in my 460. A friend of mine bought the bigger 625 I think it is not positive on that number and it vibrates like crazy even with rubber isolation discs.

All of my engines are mounted without rubber isolation mounts. No issues. The clone was a bit more shaky than a stock setup, but not a big deal. I drive mostly off road, so maybe that accounts for my feel of the vibrations. Maybe a smooth ride with stiffer suspension feels different? But I don't use rubber mounts. Too much flex and it changes the belt length during hard acceleration and decel. I've found it to be a better setup.

I've been reading on http://gardentractorpullingtips.com/catalog.htm how engine vibration robs HP. I have the original style Yamaha G2 engine mounts, there new 2016. In neutral when revving the engine there's a lot of vibration from idle to about 2500. The torque strap is adjusted properly, so the engine doesn't pull backwards but it swats down real hard on the rear engine mounts. It throbs when accelerated hard at 25-30 mph or when you hit the NOS. Not badly but enough to make me wonder how much power I'm losing. I'm thinking about reworking my engine cradle this winter.

With the troubles I have had with exhaust header bolts I would be cautious in going to solid engine mounting. Part of the reason for my heavy metal crankshaft idea is to see if this minimizes vibration at certain rpms. P.S. My side cover and pull starter have blue lok tite. As well as the bolt bolt holding the S/G bracket to the engine. That one will get a nord lok the next time the clutch is off.

I wouldn't go completely solid mount. I was thinking more like high density urethane flat bushings on the 4 corners of my engine plate.

Sort of along that line I got rid of the torque strap and used a urethane truck suspension mount. This really made a difference on the bucking it had under deacceleration. Kind of got the idea from the urethane snubbers on the club carts I service.

Urethane might be the way to go

For the exhaust bolts you can use aircraft bolts, they use wire to tie them off so they don't rotate. I also use high heat thread locker. It works so well you have to use a rosebud to take them off, not recommended if you plan to remove the header often lol.
