Default VRX 460 limits?

What do some of you estimate the RPM and Horsepower limits are on the Vegas Carts 460 gen 2 with the stock block, con rod (with ARP rod bolts) and piston? I'll be using a different cam, head, valves, lifters, rockers, etc. Will it hold up to 6500 RPM and up to 40 HP? Well, maybe 35HP...

If you are going to build it for hard running I would change to either Bullfrog's or ARC's billet rod which are designed for race conditions. If you are going to exotic fuels I would go to a forged piston. I also would use studs on the side cover and cylinder head. AND certainly a billet flywheel. If your budget allows the ARC billet side cover with double bearings would complete a very strong high rpm VC 460 build.

Is the vc rod that weak?
Has anyone really broke one from high rpm useage?

VC did a posting somewhere when they switched from the ARC rod to their billet rod stating the ARC rod was built for racing ans was over engineered for golf cart use and their rod was less beefy and designed for the rpm range used in golf cart swap. As delivered it uses the same rod bolts as the cast rod used. There were certainly some failures for the racers so Russell Thompson came with high strength rod bolts for the VC unit.

Makes sense as to why it is cheaper then.
Too bad a cheaper rod doesn’t work for most applications.

Plenty for a golf cart just not the item for a race engine.

Alright, here's my cart items at NR. I also have a new unassembled VRX 460, dogbone mounts, timing advance bracket and in another cart a Mikuni 34mm round slide. Probably the next thing I should do is see exactly what failed with the current 460. (rod knock, sounds like)

Camshaft, 306-0411, GX390

Rocker Arms, Roller, Shaft Mounted, Billet Steel, GX390, 1.2 Ratio

With all those items I would spend the $'s for either ARC or Bullfrog connecting rod. Break a rod and it can really tear up a lot of expensive parts. As the saying goes it's your money. All the other items are really built for speed. For someone looking for an easier super built engine Bullfrog sells incredible short block assemblies for not that much more than the cost of the HP parts in it. In fact before I started my Omega build I wish would have seen his packages.

Looks like that will require a piston, ... the 92.25mm which will require the 4.440" connecting rod. Probably, the Bullfrog short block would have been a better starting point.

Short stroke engines rev faster --- long stroke engines produce more torque. If you want a safe high revving engine [6500-7000 rpm] a short rod setup would be a benefit. Sense your already part way there I would suggest buying the most heavy duty rod you can afford.
