Clones for a CC
I am probably asking a stupid question, which is the best clone for a 05 club car. Trying to do this build on a budget. Wife is complaing, especially after putting the honda 400 ex front end on it. Need more juice now. I appreciate any help.

Re: Clones for a CC
Lot of people use the duromax it tends to be cheaper. I used a carolstream 16hp. The 16 is a stroked version of a 13, it seems to have more torque but runs out of rpm sooner. I question if there is really a 3hp difference, but it does have good torque down low its like a stock cart engine with double the power. The 13hp seems to rev around 500rpm higher. My tach died but getting about same as stock with this 16 that is stock but no governor and custom car airbox and muffler for higher flow. I'm trying to do another 16 with a decked head and advanced timing to see if it helps, though I'm not that worried about top speed these run around 30mph gps and about 5K rpm on 22s. Its climbing power I'd rather have and the stock 16 will set you back in the seat compared to stock G9. I was working on a carryall (not lifted) and it has some issues like worn clutches but it seems comparable to stock G9 if not slower. It will hardly spin a 18" tire taking off in gravel.
The other day I was able to hold the brake a little with the 16, with a stock yami clutch, hammer the gas and it spun a 22 over the length of the cart in gravel going straight ahead. Was moist gravel and not all stones. Anyway, no stock engine cart is going to do that with a stock clutch. That clone cart only has a cut sheave otherwise the yami clutches were rebuilt with new sheaves and stock spring. The brakes are weak have new shoes to put on, then I might get more rpm on takeoff and see if it does more because it takes off stock-smooth and does not want to spin. You turn right and floor it and it will rooster dirt off the tire once you get moving. |

Re: Clones for a CC
Thanks for the info Sho. I have been looking at those duramax's. sounds like fun. I am all for the climbing also. Going to use my ds cart for the hunting lease.
