Default Yamaha G9 Predator Build

Ok I guys I thought I would get this thread started on the build of my G9 Yamaha clone build with a Harbor Frieght Predator engine.
I picked her up today after work.I got the HF 20% off coupon in my email and used it to save me some cash.
regular price 399.99
saved 120
engine cost 279.99
2 yr no hassle warranty 49.99
total out the door with tax $349.58
I just got done ordering the clutch adapter from CPP.So I will find out how quick they are at getting my order shipped out.
I have to say that this engine was packeged up real nice in the box.No evidence of any damage from my quick inspection.I have to go back into work in 4 1/2 hrs so I didn't get to make a detailed examination.
Came with a tool to remove the spark plug.
So now I can't wait for my parts to get here and get time to work on it.I am trying to put in a new Mobile home foundation for my mom and the weather isn't cooperating. So it is taking most of my time when its not raining.
Here is a few pics i took uncrating it for you guys to check out.
Might have to call this the "Predator Cart"

I don't know what the difference is in the new engine and the older series of engines.
I had read somewhere that perhaps the factories were making some changes to match up with the nxt generation of Hondas that just came out.
I would tell you if the engines they have are the old ones I would get it while they are clearancing them out. They are all gone around here. The saleman told me they sold the one mine replace for $125 out the door when they ran out!
I have to say it looks like a nice piece.
Maybe Sho knows what the difference might be.

I did get my email from CPP about my order for my clutch adapter.Says it has been processed and shipped.

The new Predator engines are made by Loncin, they previous Greyhound engines were made by Lifan.

The Lifan engines were nearly identical to the Honda engines. The problem with that is they directly copied the Honda product, and Honda doesn't like that. Read Lawyers.

The Loncin Engines get around this by using a different exhaust and air cleaner design as well as different displacement specs. (larger bore and stroke)

The Loncin 13hp engine is actually 420cc instead of the old engine's 389cc

11HP is 346cc instead of 337cc.

6.5hp is 212cc instead of 196cc(this will be a problem for clone kart racers.)

Loncin is a respected manufacturer that builds a good quality product for the price.

I'm guessing they also gave HF a price break to switch from Lifan.

I have to say awesome job on getting my order out at CPP.My clutch adapter arrived today. Not bad for ordering on a friday night and showing up in Indiana on monday.
Very nice piece,and well made.
I definately won't be needing the spacer either on my swap.
I did go ahead and tear apart the engine so I could remove the air cleaner and exhaust. Then I pulled the crankcase cover and removed the govenor.I pressed the pin back in with it coated with a little rtv.
The engine was real clean inside not really much in the way of casting flash.
I don't know if I much care for the oil slinger being part of the rod cap casting.
Should be fine though.
I am going to try and make a exhaust flange at work tomorrow. That way I can make a new header going to the muffler.
I drilled the crank the same size for the 3/8-24 that it came thereaded.I then cut her off.I then put a bevel on the end of the crank so the adpter would slide on cleanly.
My question to anyone else who has done this before.Did you drill and tap it for a 3/8",1/2",or the factory metric bolt?
I thought I had a metric so I could use the factory bolt but I had every size above and below it.
So I left that part alone for tonight.
I did make a motor mount plate for it.Not sure I will use it though.I did set the engine in the cart, but I can tell I need to drop the front down so I can get it back farther.
My cart is stock ,but I can see were a lift kit would help keeping the engine horizontal due to dropping the front.I plan to lift it in the future.I am thinking about making a bracket to lift the rear 2" to help with the engine and the future rear seat.I figured i would just make some like the cheap set you can buy on ebag.

Can anyone tell me what part # of car mufflers they have been using?Or am I going to just have to go searching through catalogs
I guess I will have to stop by the local small engine parts house and see about an exhaust gasket for it also.

"Not bad for ordering on a friday night and showing up in Indiana on monday"

I ordered a clutch and belt from CPP last Wed. The package showed up at my door yesterday (Monday). I'm in Ontario Canada so that was lightning fast. They shipped the items about two hours after I ordered them.

Ok I figured out the crank bolt is 1/2-20 " today at work.I had it set in my head it was some off the wall metric size last night.
I will be drilling it out tonight and threading it.I have a friend milling me a exhaust flange so I can make a header to go to a muffler I do t have yet.lol!
