He had it made at a muffler shop. You can make it even quieter by simply taking a steel freeze plug drilling a 1" hole in it and placing it in the tailpipe. It creates minimal back pressure and reflects alot of the sound waves back into the muffler. A longer smaller pipe is almost always quieter. You will notice many stock carts have 12 or more inched of additional pipe after the muffler.

looks real nice. where did you find your exaust flanges, and did you use a flange on your carb to the air cleaner? also wondering what you did to hook up your throttle with the motor sitting like it is. i have my motor sitting the same in my club car because of clockwise rotation issues and would appreciate some pics. again looks really nice.

I have done soooooooooooooo much research on quieting down my EZ-GO. I put the 23HP Vanny in with cam and rev kit, and finally think I have the perfect ending. I had a shop install a like new muffler from a Kawasaki ZX600, with a support bar of stainless attached to the gear case and does it ever sound good !!! I closed the flapper valves inside the muffer approximately half way, and the cart has a very nice low toned sound at idle, and not much louder under full throttle...FANTASTIC...I'll be posting some pics in a little while when the wife gets home

This is what I did with my stock exhaust from the old nine horsepower. Seems to be pretty quite; however, there is more engine noise versus exhaust noise

I know this thread is 10 months old but I was very busy this past summer and kind of put the Golf cart on the back burner. I thought I would give an update on a couple of things. First of all the exhaust didnt work out. The header pipe broke at the exhaust manifold where it was welded. I should not have attached it to the body of the cart at the rear. I ended up putting the clone muffler back on it. I will be adding a different muffler in the near future. Probably something longer and off of a dirt bike or Atv and I will have it attached to the swingarm or differential. I have another post on here showing how I mounted the engine. That whole set up is working fine even though the engine isnt sitting level. I'm going to remount the engine in the near future and hopefully this time I will get it right. The engine has ran flawlessly for the past 10 months and I pull a 5x8 utility trailer behind it on a regular basis with no problems at all. I will post pics of progress. Thanks!

Here is a photo at the bottom of my new exhaust My second G9 clone BB It has a rotating coupler on the flange so it can move, and the muffler is on rubber straps so it can swing. So far it works well but not put that much gas through it yet. If I jump on the bumper the muffler moves around .5 inch forward. Its not that quiet, about like a larger lawn mower. But has no tail pipe at all I'm sure that would help. I'm thinking of a valve like a choke plate on the end of the muffler, then put a smaller tail pipe around behind it to the other side of cart. Quiet closed and like it is now open. But have to get the carb working better first its off a little.

Look at some of the mufflers for Twins such as Briggs, and block off one inlet.I have the stock muffler on my Opposed, its' like riding a lawn-mower with a little attitude.I took the outlet-deflector,modified it into an elbow, then ran 16" of 1-1/2" exhaust-pipe back from there to get it out from under the cart(it dumps by the rear-shock).At wide-open its' still a level where you can talk(low-level yell),but not unbearable at all.Hope this helps.
