Longer Belt?
I finally got my clone in for my carryall 6, mounts installed and the motor put in place. I ran into space issues between the motor and and transaxle. With the motor back as far as it will go, the belt is still too tight. I even raised the mounts up and relocated the starter solenoid to move the motor back further. Still too tight. I'm worried the cart wont idle and not be able to shift gears. Is there a longer belt anyone knows about? Just needs to be slightly looser. Moving the motor back further isn't an option.

Re: Longer Belt?
Are you using a 1" belt or a 1 3/16"?
If you haven't already, You should get a hold of tom at CPP and upgrade to the 1 3/16" belt. Yamaha G2-G22 Belt 39" Yamaha G29 Belt 41" EZGO 94-up Belt 42" http://www.cartpartsplus.com/contact.php |

Re: Longer Belt?
I have the severe duty belt from CPP for a standard Club Car DS. Will a stock 1 3/16" work ok on my stock clutches?

Re: Longer Belt?
Simple trick to measure the length belt you need.
Use a flat cloth tape or clothesline - wrap it around the center shaft inside the drive clutch and around the outermost diameter of the driven clutch.... this measurement + 2 inches is the length of belt you need. Post that measurement here and we will see what stock cart belt fits, if any. |

Re: Longer Belt?
Ok, belt length problem solved...I shaved a bracket on the back of the motor and was able to move it back just enough so the belt fit properly. Now the problem are the idle RPM's, cant get them low enough to keep the drive clutch from engaging. The driven is spinning away like crazy. Anyone ever used the idler bearing that CPP has?

Re: Longer Belt?
How about the RPM spring? Would engaging 200 RPM's higher be enough?

Re: Longer Belt?
Wooly, if you find an answer to this, please post it as i am dealing with a similar issue. Stock clutch on my '86 DS engages off the get go. While i plan to do a pedal start i think i will be okay, but still, would be nice if i could get the clutch to calm the heck down instead of blowing its load at idle lol.

Re: Longer Belt?
I called Tom today and he said the spring "should" fix my problem so I ordered it. I will let you know as soon as I get it installed. I've got my fingers crossed.
