89 club car help
My wife got me my duromax for christmas today for my 89 club car. I am going to use the stock clutches and it looks like from what I have read on here that I will be useing a honda odyssey belt. My question is anyone that uses this setup what is the measurement from center to center of the clutches so I can go ahead and get the motor bolted in while I wait for a belt to get here? Or if no one knows how much deflection should the belt have when I install it so I get it tensioned right?
Thanks |

9 5/8" center to center is the standard CC measurement Jeff and from all I have read about 2" deflection seems to be the norm but even on a standard CC this can vary. Some belts seem to slip on and off the clutches with ease while another seemingly identical cart can be a real bear to change over. Any particular reason you are going with the Odyssey belt as opposed to the regular CC piece ? |

Re: 89 club car help
Yea the starter on the motor hits the rear end and is still too far away for the stock belt to go on. So I need a longer belt and the one for the odyssey is about the only choice for a 1" wide belt that is longer

Re: 89 club car help
Yes Chuck, the Duromax will clear the rear easily when the starter is removed and quite honestly, the starter is a bit of a waste of time and money unless you plan to to run without the S/G. I can't imagine it handling the stop / start cycles of a golf cart but it would probably be ok in certain applications where constant stopping and starting is not so much of an issue.
