Default Not sure where to ask about swap and speed

I have my clone swap done, the power is unbelievable, should have done this forever ago, however feels like my cart rearend is slipping or something when accelerating up heels. It is like the engine is reving up and the rearend is not keeping up? does this make any sense to any one else? Any help would be great.

Is your belt slipping? How much deflection is in your belt? (push down with your finger inbetween drive and driven clutch) I believe it should only be 1/2 to 1''. Is belt worn, wet, etc?

1/2 inch on belt, not wet, possibly due to being old belt. Motor set up with original belt. Had my coworker watch while i accelerated up hill on black top and then stopped. He said i did a one wheel wonder about 30 feet. I didnt believe him but sure enough a long black tire mark!

I did figure out my belt was slipping at about 3200 rpms going uphill. I purchased a tiny tach and severe duty belt from cpp. Now I'm gripping all the time. I did however noticed that my duromax is comfortably running at 4200 - 4400 rpms, is this right? or is my tach a little off. Im not sure what is good to run at, but idle shows about 1380 rpms. That seems high to me?

I would guess if you slowed the idle way down you would hit the comp release at maybe 600rpm? They want them in lawn equipment to idle around 1000-1200 because of air cooling and hydrostat drag on them.

You can try a couple things if you are sure it is slipping, the belt would be really hot the sheaves too. You can lightly sand the moving secondary sheave and both sheaves on the primary. Take some fine paper and sand from center out to edge. Just enough to take off the shine and do not dig into the aluminum. This will make the belt grab more, and when it grabs the moving side of the secondary that will make it grip the belt tighter. Make sure the plastic pucks on the ramps are working right and moving easily. If you have the stock secondary spring you can take it out and stretch it longer I did mine in a vice. The secondary is mostly responsible for grip on the belt.

Just make sure it is slipping and not shifting, a CVT can always feel like it is slipping that is kind of how they work. Whatever the case I'd recommend you clean and lube both clutches so they are working properly....if they need it.

I would guess max power is around 3600-4K rpm and it should shift there. Once it is shifted all the way at speed it will go higher unless you have a governor on it. But I know the clone I did dies at 5K rpm and has little power there.
