Default 13hp clone me29 and a torq a verter 4mph....

Today I bought (or stole) a guys project that he lost interest in.
ground up cart with a tube frame covered in a plastic type panel, anyway the heart is a me29 ezgo axel that is brand new and a 13hp clone.
boltes to the clone is a torq a verter and then a 50 or so tooth sprocket welded to the input shaft of the me29.

I filled the crankcase with oil and 2 pulls and away it ran but at redline and I think that would be about 3600 rpm the thing maybe hit walking speed or less.....

so with stock size golf cart tires and these parts what would you do to get this up to a decent speed??

It is for the wife to use around the yard so nothing to crazy.

thanks and hello from sask canada.

Welcome to BGW

with a set up like that, the 50 tooth sprocket is killing it, you need a 10 - 12 tooth on the rear end, and the biggest you can get on the motor

He would have been smarter to use the stock cart CVT, if he had them.

The guy I bought it from bought just a brand new me29 for $500 and it had nothing on it.

I need to wait a couple days to post a video and you guys can see what I have.

Most of the CVT are 1:1 when shifted all the way out at high speed. Yamaha are .9 overdrive ezgo might be too not sure. A yamaha the trans is 13:1 and the overdrive makes total gearing about 11:1 engine to axle at top speed/fully shifted. Most GC are similar, anyway might give you an idea what the gearing should be compared to a stock cart. If you look at a stock yamaha cart you can see the diameter of the engine (primary) clutch is a little larger than the small diameter inside the secondary, where the belt would be running fully shifted....belt would be at top of primary and bottom of secondary at full shift.

The diameters of your clutches will work out similar, but then you have to add the ratio of the chain drive (multiply ratios together). If the CVT is about 1:1 ratio then the chain drive should be 1:1 sprockets or maybe a tooth or two more on the secondary than the trans input to come out the same as a stock cart.
