Default clone motor clutch help

Can you put the cluch adapter on a clone motor for a stock clutch without having to cut the shaft shorter and rethreading?

You can if you have enough room. Its really not that hard to cut it, a few minutes with a sharp hacksaw would do it. It is harder to drill and you need a tap, but something most people could do. Use the next drill size larger for hand tapping, or 50% threads. Just make sure you do it such that you will have plenty of thread on the bolt you use, more thread depth than the width of the threads for sure, 2X or more would be ideal.

The reason they put the clutch close to the engine is its easier on the crank bearing. The higher the rpm the worse it can be on the bearing. Having a clutch out there is a lot of weight flying around with a lot of leverage. However I doubt its that big a deal at 4000 or less rpm unless you get a defective clutch that is out of balance/etc.

The adapter I bought came with a 1" spacer, I don't think I could have left the crank a 1" spacer would have been too short. I cut crank short as I could because that was only way it fit in the cart.

Thank you. I had to end up cutting 2.5 inches off of my shaft and make a new spacer to be able to fit it into my cart. I ended up drilling and tapping to standard threads. For the 3/8 bolt I got with my stock clutch.
