Default clone engine help

okay i have a club car with the 11 hp kawi and i have done everything to it for power clutch kits exhaust k&n short belts ext.. and it will literally climb anything but at a very slow speed i was wanting to throw in a 16 hp clone motor speaking there only 300 bucks but will that give me some hill climbing power/speed or would it be a waste and if so can i just buy the motor and shaft adapter from cpp and throw everything from stock motor over? really need some help with this one im very interested in doing the swap thanks guys

if your club car is '97 or newer (which it sounds like it is since it has the kawi engine correct me if I am wrong) then the clone will spin the opposite way. You would have to use reverse for forward and vise versa. Reverse is a lower gear so you will gain more power but loose top speed still. You can install high speed gears to get you back to where you were but the RPMs are close so you won't actually go any faster with a 16hp clone. Either gear it up or put bigger tires on it for more speed.

i have 23s on it and i can get about 30mph with my cart the reason im wanting to go with the clone engine is for more hill climbing speed right now i can climb anything but really slow i was wondering if the 16 hp clone would throw so power while hill climbing . i dont want more top end just bttom to mid range go up a hill if that makes sense

No they swap over. Most people cut the crank that sticks out so the clutch fits closer to the engine. You will have to drill, tap and then cut a little off then do a little more. Sho has a good walk through for using a relay to start and shut off the engine with the peddle just like stock but more power. I just picked up a Predator engine for our lawnmower and even tho it's a clone it's actually better then I first gave them credit it's actually a great engine. Not to mention all engines are on sale from Harborfreight and it only cost me $20 for an additional 27 month in store warranty. I am lucky enough to have a Harborfreight 3 blocks from my house.

No I got the 6.5hp vertical shaft for a lawnmower but all in all pretty impressed. Biggest thing is to follow the break in to the T and you'll be good to go.

I bought the same engine. I too was impressed at how well it starts and runs. My daughter can start it easily so thats a plus in my book. (she likes to mow sometimes, I might not be there so she starts it)

Only thing I didn't like was cutting the crank. I'm perfectly capable of doing it but I felt the stock shaft was too long. I ended up cutting an inch off and drilling/tapping the crank.

I put the engine in a 70's John Deere 68 riding mower. Came with an 8hp stock but seized 2nd day I got it (got the mower for free). It powers it just fine I'm not on huge land or anything. I didn't have to cut the crank or anything stock pulley went right on. Just had to drill 3 holes to bolt it on. Stock throttle cable even worked. Between that and the $20 new blade I'm $150 into a riding mower my wife loves cause it's cute.
