Default Double the HP and lose your brakes

Today I took a test ride in my Club car with the newly installed 16 HP Duromax.
I did not have the gas peddle or kill switch hooked up yet and ran it at just an idle speed. The idle was just a little fast and the clutch would lock in right away.
I drove around for a while then headed to the barn. I though I should be able to stop it with just the brakes once I was in the barn. No matter how hard I pressed the brakes the golf cart kept going right out the back door of the barn and into the fence. The front wheels manged to make it over the top of the fence before I could shut off the engine.

Well it looks like I will not have any problems climbing hills in this rig. The governor will make sure it is getting all the gas it needs to make it to the top.

On the top of my list of things to do is hook up the gas peddle kill switch and lower the idle speed.

Yes I was sitting on and looking forward and searching for the key switch at the same time. Last thing I saw was the rafters in the barn.

This reminded me of my neighbors jeep. He had a 4:1 reducer put in to the transfer case and when loading it on to his low boy he pressed the brakes to stop it but with the newer lower ratio he he could not stop even at idle speed. The jeep jumped the front of the trailer and when through the back of his van. He had to take a fork lift to remove his jeep from the back of his van.

Glad you were not hurt! When trying to get my cart running the first time I crushed myself against a concert wall. Learned my lesson.

I would have never had though that a Golf cart would climb a fence. May be because the club carts are made out of aluminum and very light it is more like a motor cycle than the lead sled Par Car I use to own.

I did not look around I was too busy wondering how I was going to get the cart off the top of the fence. I used a winch tied to the rafters to lift it off of the fence.

Lol that is a good one, but glad nobody got hurt. I climb trees all the time with my stock G9, it will go right up until the rear bumper hits the ground. Its hard to get on/off the cart when I park it that way though. With a clone it is no contest it will spin up a tree. Not tried it with the one I did but when it does a wheelie off a ditch or steep dirt pile I don't think it would be a problem. Its actually kind of scary because it is so unexpected to have the front of the cart go up on its own. It will do that with two people. Once climbed this ditch and dragged the bumper away from the top doing a wheelie with two guys on it, amazing, clone makes some torque I guess. And I was just testing it we would put the front tire at the bottom of the ditch maybe 6' high and very steep then hammer it. I need to do it again and get a video.

Yeah...I came home one day only to find my riding lawn mower half way up one of the kids swing set legs. Wife was trying to help out during my real busy schedule and cut the grass. Only problem she tried to go in between the two seat swings and one got hung up under the edge of the lawnmower and lifted it up like a lift then dropped it onto the leg. She hasn't offered to cut grass since.
