Default 86 CC swapping to a clone

So I got the cart for $150, couldn't complain. Stock engine was seized tight. Just got the clutch puller & took the factory clutch off, ordered the longer belt & tapered clutch adapter to fit the clone. What else should I be looking for or doing? I also have to replace the engine plate bushings that were shot. I know about the fuel pump, Anything else? Tips, tricks, etc? Where should the mounting holes be located on the mounting plate? Use the stock holes or drill new ones? Thanks guys!

Check what year you have the newer CC run the engine backwards then you have to do a different setup. Look for threads on CC in the BB or here after you find out rotation, I always forget what ones are backwards but think a 83 is not.

CC switched the rotation in 1997, on the 86 you don't have to worry about that.

Think I'm going to use a gx390 clone, my buddy bought two pallets of them for his race cars so I can get them pretty cheap :) With all the searching on here, there doesnt seem to be one definite way to mount the engine, everyone just kind of eyeballs it...

I put bars over the stock G9 mounts, because it has a front and rear. I lowered the front with a tube across since the cradle is angled from the lift. I also lined up the mounts like the stock engine and welded it together like that crooked lol. I was aftraid the rubber mounts would not like being bent over some odd angle. Then I lined up the clone and marked the holes, drilled, bolted it on. Takes stock belt. I lined it up so clutches are same distance apart just cut a piece of 2x4 that size that fit, then used a straight edge to get them straight and get the same offset fixed to fixed sheave. Runs like a charm but it does have a cut sheave.
