Default Txt clone swap

I have a question, what is the lever in the picture for and what should I do with it in a clone swap?

Thanks
Mike

That is the speed governor some remove It completely and plug the hole some just put a tension spring on it and ignore it mine was in the way so I removed it. I've not experienced it but I've heard it not removed if speeds are way beyond stock it can come apart in you diff. And cause tons of damage.

Looks like its not that easy to remove so ill just leave it, should it be tightened down towards the front of the cart or back?

Thanks again

I found a really old thread on this site that said something about the tension spring. Removing it completely I removed the axles split the case and removed it. Tapped the hole in the case and inserted a pipe plug. Not a task I would of took on but I had the case apart for other reasons and figured why not.

Yah I saw that it wasn't going to be easy to remove, do you know what way it should be to not limit speed, front or back?

It won't limit your speed unless connected to the carb. I believe the spring was mentioned just to add resistants the the shaft because its centrifugal weights inside the rear end. I would have to find that thread and see if this is right. But from what I saw that would be the only reason to need a spring
