Default WARNING 16hp Duramax throttle sticks wide open

This is the second time it has happen. The first time I pulled the side cover and could not find anything wrong. I though it was a missing flat washer on the govenor shaft that was making it stick wide open. After not having a problem for several months I thought I solved the problem. Has anyone else had this problem? The govenor shaft moves freely so the problem is inside the case. This is going to stink having to pull the motor out again.

I pulled mine out before I installed the engine, so I can't help you on that one. I broke the gear off the shaft into pieces to get rid of it. It has little weights on it. Still should be a return spring that is pretty strong. Not sure how the weights could get stuck wot. Not a nice condition to have. The weights push out a shaft that fits on the solid one in the case. It pushes on the gov shaft.

I need to keep the governor being it goes to fast for some of the ones I let drive it. I wonder what options I have to get a governor that will always work.

If you want to limit speed better to use the governor on the cart trans, if you have one. I've never heard of a problem with the clone governor otherwise, maybe you got a bad part in there or something. I'd give you mine but its in many pieces.

Have u ever seen a clone govenor hooked u to the rear end? l was amazed how much fun it was without the govenor, that 16hp has way more power than I ever thought possible. Maybe having the rear alxe control speed is a good idea and I can bypass it when the kids are not using it.

Seems like someone would have kept it, should work just like stock. The axle just pulls the throttle back at X speed. It is better because it limits based on ground speed, while the CVT can still shift out with an engine governor. The throttle pedal to the trans is mounted on a spring so the trans can override it. You can override the governor on the trans, the problem is at high speed it pulls really hard on the throttle cable. Eventually the cable has a shorter life.
