on my txt the pedal start works much faster than turning it over with the electric start so I use the pedal to start and let it run and use the key to shut it off.

I'm thinking of doing the key start but for me it will be just because of preference.

I love the pedal start, why have a key. If I only trail rode maybe key would be ok but I use the cart for every and anything. I can be on the cart and down the drive before friends start up their utv and get it into gear. I can do yard work I never have to start it up or shut it off if I move it 10 times in the yard to haul stuff. It never sits there wasting gas and making noise. I thought about putting a bypass switch on the pedal to keep it running for trail use, but never bothered to do it. Another issue is I have a clone and until Geoff has the charge kits they only charge 3A so you need the gen or to put an alternator in them. My throttle is setup so I can sit there with my foot on the pedal and it will idle, so I do that if I want to keep it running.

I noticed just driving the cart for a few days around the property that I would much rather have it keyed. Taking it in and out the garage or other tight spots I was trying to feather the pedal but the engine kept dying.

Its not the starters fault the engine does not run well . When warm I touch the pedal and my stock engine and now the clone will sit there and idle no problem. Remember some stock clutches like yamaha you can't idle them well as the clutch drags, and then you can't shift gears when idling either. Some aftermarket clutches have a roller bearing in the center to help this.

Not blaming the starter, it's mostly just my preference. I sent you a message a couple of weeks back regarding some engine questions.

I like the pedal start for most applications other than my built cart because it just sounds sooo good idling with that big ol cam.

If the engine will not idle that can cause starting problems, is what I mean. I recommend setting the idle speed on the carb to idle really slow, and setting the mixture as well if it has one. It will start with the pedal much nicer. If you set it a little rich it starts in cool weather with no choke. Most golf/etc people don't do any of this, or realize it is an issue for starting, because it stops running when you let off the pedal.
