starter question
I have a 91 2cycle,the starter turns quickly in reverse but very slowly in forward,any ideas why

You should post in the brand forum of your cart for stock equipment questions, ie: in 'ezgo gas' for a 2 stroke gas ezgo cart or same for yamaha/CC/etc. You would get better help there.
What I would check first is the battery cables/connections and other wiring or grounds to the starter/gen...since you know it uses one set of wires for forward and another for reverse rotation (its just acting as a DC motor when starting). Make sure the belt is not slipping. I've not seen bad brushes/bearings cause one direction to be slow but possible (in the gen, most of them are not hard to replace brushes and bearings in them). Can also try to start it the slow way and feel wires for a hot spot that would indicate bad connection, but don't get burned! Could also be a solenoid, some carts you can swap the forward and reverse to test them. |
