Yamaha G9 pit cart build
So I have been looking for a cart to put together to haul tools, tires, fuel and myself around that track. I found this 1994 Yamaha G9 gas golf cart and figured it would work out great for this project...
So here it is: The motor was blowing a lot of smoke so I figured it would be a good time for an upgraded motor... 420cc clone from HF |

Re: Yamaha G9 pit cart build
I started by breaking down the cart all the way to the frame as there is some rust in areas that need to be cut out and repaired..

Instead of HF hit up Geoff http://www.vegascarts.com/webstore/ he's a site sponsor and they do more work with the engines. You won't regret it.

Re: Yamaha G9 pit cart build
Looks like a good project. I love the predator I put in my G9.you will find you need to lift the cart 4" to get it to fit in there correctly. you will also need to make a new air intake as the shock us right in the way.there are plenty of threads on here with that info.good luck

Re: Yamaha G9 pit cart build
Sorry guys, I bought the motor a few weeks back when it was on sale for $319 plus my 20% off..
I ran the motor for a few minutes and then drained the oil because I have her stories of metal shavings in the case... sure enough there there large pieces in the drain pan I removed the intake, exhaust, and fuel tank off. Then broke off the plastic governor. I put oil back in it and ran it for a bit to break it in. |

Re: Yamaha G9 pit cart build
I have a question, I removed the Yamaha speed limiter and just left the stud sticking out. I can turn it back and forth. Can I just leave it loose like this or does it need to remain in one position? I could not find any detail in the factory service manual.

You can leave it...I did and you may have to trim it down a bit to clear the cylinder head on the predator motor.

Re: Yamaha G9 pit cart build
A lot of rust... I had to cut the bolt out that mounted the brake pedal and drill the sleeve out. New parts are on order. No wonder the brake pedal did not want to return.
