Default 1992 marathon swap engine

I have been following many of the treads on swap engines and would to swap out my 295cc.
1. what would be the largest engine to fit my 1992 metal marathon(heavy) I can fab a cradle
2. recoil or electric?
3. what shaft size to use with my existing axle?
4. can I use my current key start and keep f/r?
5. don't have lights but want to put into cowl
Thanks for any input. ps probably missed a whole bunch items

Welcome to BGW gfoxy1.
Theres lots of information on BGW. You will need to do alot of reading to make the best informed decision for what you want.
Geoffw has a good setup. but it all depends on what you want to do.
some people are putting snowmobile engines, motorcycle engines, hondas, honda clones, and diesels in their carts. and a few turbos. the sky is the limit.
I think the next time around i may go with Geoffw's setup though. hes a good guy, and semi close to me.

Well I ordered a 420cc predator, which I wasn't going to do right now, but they accepted the 20% coupon and it was on sale total $309.00 including tax and shipping. So now I have to figure out with all of your help what all I need to do to the 1992 ezgo marthon, which had the 295cc engine.
I have already put a lift kit and nice tires on it, but it only would go 14mph.
From the threads I know that a cradle will need to be fabricated and I need an adpator for the clutch shaft from CPP to the axle with a new belt, but what about the existing big fuel tank and key start and gen. etc.

HD springs....those typically cost $20 shipped alone
Your choice of 4,6, 8 degree timing key which costs $7
8.75:1 Compression vs 8:1 compression
1mm oversize valves with a multi-angle valve job
20cc more displacement
Uses all GX390 parts
The governor is already removed and plugged.
Excellent Customer Support
etc etc

My engines make 30%+ more power right out of the box.
Plus, You can get 5% off by using discount code BGW5

The best part is that instead of your money going to HF it goes directly to further R&D of golf cart parts and people with a passion for Golf Carts.

Im sold out on the electric start ones, but the recoils are in stock and those work just fine for golf carts.
