Default 83 G1 Predator 346 Build

I got this cart from a friend a few weeks ago. It looks like its in rough shape but it's pretty solid. I tried to jump it off my truck but nothing happened. I decided to put a clone motor in it. I got this 346cc hf engine (pull start only) for $100 on CL. Not having any background in golf carts, I've been reading lots of stuff on here, asking lots of questions and learning as I go.
-Thanks for sharing your knowledge: Sho, Danman, Gray Horse & others.

So far, all I've done is pull out the motor, put the clutch on the clone and take off the muffler, air filter and fuel tank. I took the motor and starter/gen off the mount and left the original muffler. Im gonna try and reuse them.

Had to cut some off for clearance

I'm gonna play around with the mount tomorrow and see what I can come up with.

2 stroke muffler on a 4 stroke, likely it will not care much with a 4 stroke its all about flow. Make sure the outlet of the muffler is open I've seen them plug up.

I blew air through it with a compressor, it didn't seem like it was plugged up but maybe I'll use a different muffler. I wanted to use the g1 muffler cause I thought it would be quieter than the one that came on the motor but I guess it may have too much back pressure?

Not sure, check the size of the outlet I think that is the smallest pipe. I bet a 7/8" pipe is large enough for a 346cc, not sure about smaller. I know performance 390-420cc run a 1" header usually, and a tailpipe can be slightly smaller. Really its the high rpm that needs larger pipe if you keep the governor on it then it could be slightly smaller. There are photos of G1 mufflers apart on here. In fact you might just put a larger or second outlet on it if its small.

Yeah, the output is 7/8". I don't plan on removing the governor-not right away anyway. I'm gonna just try it and see how it does.

Seems like it would not be a negative to the engine, I'd try it.

Stock cart like that, it should be a tire spinner for sure. Its a lot of messing around to hook all that stuff up, but when its done they are tons of fun to ride around. I've put clones in two G9s so far.

I cut a steel plate and drilled holes in it to mount the motor on. I'm using a piece of angle to raise the rear of the motor so I can get the pulleys close enough together. The motor mounting process has taken the most time so far but I should be done with that soon. I haven't lost interest in it, there's just been a ton of stuff come up that's taken attention away from the cart. I can't wait till its drivable.

I cut a piece of wood to fit between the clutches before I started, then put a straight edge on the fixed sheaves and measured the offset. I moved the clone around to match that. It is a little higher and also dropped the front because of my lift, to level the engine. Once you get that set you have to fabricate and exhaust and air intake, and hook up the cables/etc. You can use a $3 bosch type automotive relay to kill the ignition if your pedal goes 12v when running. Wire the relay to kill it all the time, and not kill when the pedal supplies it 12v. Otherwise you can't turn it off. Or you can hook it up like a lawnmower with the starter and key switch but the clones don't charge only 3a.
