Forgot to mention, anyone doing a build like this put your S/G and clutch on all at same time. Don't bolt down clutch yet. I didn't want to pull my clutch off to give me extra room for trail and era on the brackets. Took alot of extra time and didn't think my fingers could turn that many directions

I have followed a bunch of post on here about the S/G mounting. Alot of people have stated that the torque from the S/G broke the ears off of the clone engines. I put a couple of added braces on mine, in hopes that it want brake the ears off. If your clutch is off or easy to get off theres a bolt hole about 2" below(behind clutch) that would fit the adjustable bracket on the bottom of S/G perfect. I just couldn't get my fingers to bend enough to get in there. Also I will get rid of all the extra washer on brackets and put spacers in like it should be at a later date.

I bolted behind the clutch, its tight, use blue loctite mine came loose. I plan to add another bar to use two bolts and triangulate the bracket.

Now I found the tube under the gen is loose on this G9, it sounds like massive valvetrain noise but its that gen rattling on there. Have to weld it up.

sho, mine I put a piece of angle bolted to motor, then factory S/G bracket bolted to that. Locknuts on everything, 2 flat braces run to the other old fuel tank ears, then the adjust bracket bolted near clutch. Will move the adjust bracket back behind clutch like it needs to be when I remove clutch next time. After I get all the bugs worked out going to send both clutches to be repaired/built/matched. Worked on exhaust a little today, got the throttle cable rigged up.

I am not sure what ears break but if it is the two that line up you could always get a piece of pipe and cut it to fit tight between them and then use a long bolt and tie them all together.

You can see part of mine here. Used a piece of scrap angle and welded the stock bracket to it, another piece of angle bolts to the engine. That one broke I put the heavy part on where it bolts now. I plan to make another bar going to the bolt above it and then weld it to this bracket.

Lookin alittle flimsy.

When we originally developed the starter/gen brackets, they were made in 1/8", almost every one of them bent and the belt ended up slipping. Id stick with 1/4" strap if possible.

When you put some compression into that engine, youll need to get that belt tighter than you think to turn it over.

Also, as said before me....those ears in the casting will not like the load you are putting on them.

Ill post pics of the bracket you want to make tomorrow.

Got a few more mods to make but need a little more time. (work) All your thoughts are always welcomed. I've probally cranked this thing 200 times the day I worked on it, rode around maybe a 1/4 mile in total. Test and Tune you know. My angle is 2 and 1/2" by 3/16 bolted to old fuel tank ears, then bolted factory S/G bracket, the other brackets are about 1 and 1/2" by 1/8. These 2 I really dont think they have alot of strength, kinda just to keep some stress off the others. This weekend I'll work on it and get some better detailed pics
