Default Ezgo txt cradle building.

Hi guys. I'm currently building a clone motor ezgo txt cart with a predator 420. I had two questions, but I think I figured one out. The engine with the stock clutch seems to fit without cutting the shaft. I have the cpp adapter and I think it's going to work out just fine.

My remaining question is about the cradle. I do a good bit of fab work, so if I need to build one I will, but is there any reason not to use the rear half and build a plate to bolt in where the stock engine was? It would only take a riser to bolt on the engine and I can incorporate the skid plate on the bottom.

I'm sure someone here has been through this so I'm looking to the overly experienced ones for advice... Hopefully, flattery will get me everywhere.

I never liked the 2 piece engine platform for a bigger motor but yeah I guess you could do that or you could make your own or you can buy one from CPP, they make a great cradle.

Thanks guys. I really appreciate the info and pics. I think I'm gonna give the 2 piece a shot. I can do it for 0 dollars so I'll bend up the first half and see how it looks. I'd love to see more pics or other thoughts... Thanks!

The 2 piece cast aluminum mounts LOVE to break, in fact its almost a guarantee. You can get away with them on the stock engine, but don't waste your time with the stock mounts on a big block. If youd like, I can take pictures of how the break, it happened to us on 3 different carts before we decided that it was time to go with a cradle.

They aren't too difficult to make if you have the tools, however, if you don't want to mess with it....the one we sell is top quality, fully adjustable, and aesthetically pleasing:

Geoff... That's the info I was looking for. First... I'd like to thank you for being so open with info on this forum. Many venders are very closed lipped with any help and only say "buy my product". I've noticed that while you promote yours ( and understandably so:)) you always offer advice first. That's pretty cool. I try and run my own business the same way and it pays off over and over.

As for the cradle, I'll probably build one up. I have everything here to do it and I have a shop where I do a good bit of custom fab work. I just couldn't see the point if the aluminum mount was so easy to add too. But.... I want this to be fairly bulletproof, so build one it is!

Thanks everyone for all the advice!!!

Ps.... We all love breakage pics!

Heres the main part of my cradle. Not much time lately as I'm starting up a new buisiness with a friend. The front needs a bit more work, but this was just to get the height right and make engine parts. I wanted something that I could mount a contoured skid plate to.

Like others said the cast cradle will break if not already from the stock motor. Mine fell apart when I started my build.
