Lifan: Chrome Please
Wonder how this would work in a cart. I like chrome and this has it. I would really like to see what Geoff could make this into. Don't know really how to copy/paste but hear goes. ebay item # 121192989814

Yea I wish it was bigger also, Geoff with all your connections, you need to talk them into a 400-600cc. The other problem would be the cost of the new body to go on cart. With all that chrome you cant just cover it up. Would have to build a see through body out of lexan. lol

Re: Lifan: Chrome Please
Yeah they are cute, they make a mini harley bike but the epa will not let them in. They make a bunch of 250cc bikes that are cheap. In a lot of countries you are taxed or licensed by cc of the bike and 250 and under are cheaper to run, they sell tons of them. Plus they get great mpg, though you get performance of a 250 of course. A guy told me just put a harley engine in a cart, he said you should be able to get a used good runner for $500. One would have to come up with a cooling fan for it.

Re: Lifan: Chrome Please
I bet it was. I wanted to put two clones in and use a cogged belt ($$$ I found) and time them like a harley twin. If it didn't work I'd just time them differently. I was told the older HD are not so reliable and you have to cool it. What would be ideal is to mod a cart to show the HD engine in the open, that would be sweet.

I would lean towards a metric v twin, that was actually reliable and powerful, two things that older Harleystypically wweren't lol. Sorry I have a chip on my shoulder with old hd's

Re: Lifan: Chrome Please
Someone told me once to use a virago vtwin, but there are some extra hassles to using a motorcycle engine and wanting to use the CVT on it.

Re: Lifan: Chrome Please
Ya it would have to be a clutched manual, or a jackshaft off of the drive sprocket to the drive clutch if it were chain driven. That's probably where an old Harley engine would shine, them having a divorced transmission, you could possibly fab a clutch to the crank. Still a lot of work. But my Honda magnas engine would have enough power to put my club car into the 10s in the quarter lol...
