Default Aftermarket Clutches for Clones using Starter/Gen

Thanks to a few BGW members, we were able to locate a suitable v-belt pulley, with alittle bit of machining, it works perfectly with the Comet 780 & 94C clutches (as well as others Im sure).

This means that for those of you who want to upgrade the stock clutch and still keep your starter/gen...we now have a solution.

just getting started with my build and am looking to maybe get a clone to replace the stock fe290. if i use the new gen 2 big block 440, will the factory clutch work or do i need a new one? and if so which new one?

i noticed that the pic of the 440 shows all the pieces. is this how it comes or it totally assebled. either is ok, i have the ability to assemble if needed.

i have a 98 cc ds.

The factory clutch will work with a taper adapter such as this :

I do have an assembled version, they are call to order.

will the factory clutch handle the power of the 440? will i have to cut the shaft of the 440?

Yes, it will handle the power no problem. I recommend at least doing a spring kit to the clutches though.. You will need to cut the shaft on a Club Car, most likely not on an EZGO.

No, absolutely not. The aftermarket clutches slide right on the straight shaft.
