EZGO TXT it begins
01 EZGO with old style steering and factory Robbins engine. Vegas Carts 440, engine cradle, S/G adapter, pulley adapter with new Comet 780 clutch and exhaust. This may take a little bit of time, since we left it at wifes parents place in their shop and if I'm lucky I'll get to work on it a few hours one to two days a week.
First off, PICS!!!!!! Everybody LOVES pics! If I didn't put pics, ya'll would be asking for them anyways. First up, run of the mill EZGO with tear down in progress. Front cowl off, dang! Not expecting this, but answers why the top shook on the right side. Just like the Mexican Twins, Juan and Amal, only the dust and dirt distinguish carts once they're tore down. You see Juan, you see Amal. Here's a shot of the front with the old style front end. Jake's Long Travel going on. You can see the donor piece of metal to go fix the broken spot. As with any tear down I have seen, lotsa dirt, mud, etc. When I took the rivets for the rear body out, a set of needle nose pliers I had lost and finally gave up looking for fell out. They were between the gas tank and body. The gas tank tray has more than it's share of rust. I was going to remove it, blast it and powdercoat it, but the bolts are rusting away to where I can't even get vise grips on them. So I need to get the engine out, a good pressure washing, then get at as much rust as I can see to stop it. So if any of you fellow BGW'ers out there see anything or offer tips, I am open to suggestions/feedback/commentary. Oh, and PICS will be added, ya'll LOVE pics! |

looks like you're doing a great job tearing it down! Keep up the good work. Crank up the welder heat on that break and hit both sides of the seam. Those breaks can resurface if the weld doesn't get hot enough.
Keep the pics coming! |

Yeah Doug, thinking about reinforcing the other side as well just for S and G's while it's down.

Re: EZGO TXT it begins
I have lots of pics in my thread, I started my rebuild a few months ago.
It has turned into a complete rebuild instead of a motor swap. Take a look, I posted about issues I ran into and how I fixed them. http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/clone...lone-swap.html |

That's good logic there, even for a gas guy, LOL! Good luck with the build. Always good to see one from start to finish, especially from someone who knows how to use a camera.

What kind of tires are you running? I like that tread pattern.

Re: EZGO TXT it begins
Those are Rhox brand. Golf Cart King is where I got tires and wheels couple years ago.
Got the gas and battery tray out, front end off, engine out, pressure washed and new cradle in. Lot for four hours. Going to blast and powder coat several pieces. Lots of bolts and nuts going to replace too. Hitting rust spots with brush wheel. More pics coming prob Saturday. |

Nice work M16 and don't let that front hitch go to waste..
Bc, what size 10 inch are you wanting? Innova makes some thing similar. |

Re: EZGO TXT it begins
BC, yes I have the 10" wheels/tires. That leads to another story in a minute....
Well, two days of early risin to go hunt and EZGO work. Told wife I wasn't going to hunt all day, I had to work on the EZGO! We made a deal, I'd hunt with her in the morning, and I'd get to work on it the rest of the day. So, first order of the day is where I left off, getting the old engine out. Next, quick trip to the pressure washer which proceeded to waste about 45 minutes of my time being ornery. Need to replace some O-rings on PW now. So, here it is with the loose dirt off of it. Front end demo finished and done. Got Vegas Carts engine cradle in and installed. (sorry, no pic) Jake's Long Travel kit with Jake's Disc Brake kit installed. Now the real bummer was finding out my 10" wheels didn't have a straight bell on them Hoping I can just do a wheel spacer and solve the problem rather than spending coin on new wheels. The bumper was originally chrome, but powder coated it black. Pretty much reached a stopping point til I get the wheel issue straight. Then I remembered I had another small project to do! Adding a gas gauge to the dash, so I grabbed the tank, cut the hole, made my holes for the screws and made sure the float was the correct length. This was an AutoMeter brand universal sending unit. The factory kit is right at 199.00 alone, the only thing I really needed was a backing spacer for the screws to screw into. I had already made me a backing spacer prior to this, so it was measuring and making sure the sending unit was the correct height. So, your probably asking (or was afraid to ask) how the heck did ya get the backing spacer on there? Easy, I just took some wire, fed it thru the gas cap spot, then thru where the sending unit goes and tie a loop in the wire. Then put the backing spacer in (It has that cutout to be able to roll it into the hole), fed wire thru one of the holes, gasket, then the sending unit itself and pull. Lined up holes and four screws go in. Remove the wire, then last screw goes in. Tank Done. I have an idea about how to make the return dump line for Geoff's fix for these. So that's it for the last two half days of work. Next up should be frame welded, rust removal, engine mounted, wired and run. The body, seats, etc should be a snap. |
