Default Clone 440cc engine swap

Has anyone had any dealings with the 20 HP 440cc Clone engine from www.affordablegokarts.com. Seems to be a pretty sweet deal for $400.

I thought it looked the same....LOL

I just realized I posted the ''WRONG LINK"

I meant to post a link to one of our great sponsors, VEGAS CARTS....

http://vegascarts.com/webstore/index...oducts_id=1097

Sorry Geoff! But there's a plug for ya!

Oh, I saw on that other companies site they had engines for like $2k? What's that all about? Any idea why someone would use that instead of your 440?

I would rather support those who help the forum and it's member. I just pickup a Yamaha G2 that's already lifted that needs a new engine. I've read and watch just about every article and video that's out there and thought this would be the easiest and cheapest route. I'm budgeting $800 towards this project. This includes engine, exhaust, and a few other mods. Is this a reasonable budget? I'll be using all the stock parts I can. I'm not trying to build a souped up trail rig just a dependable UTV/hunting rig for my farm.

Just looked at Vegas carts and it is the same motor. Geoff would you mind if I give you a call on Monday and work out what I want to do and what I would need. Thanks

I think if you have $800 to spend, that should be enough.

I'm basically doing the same swap, but with a G1 that will use the G2 swing arm and transaxle. Here's my plan estimate, yours will be similar.

Clutch Adapter $50
Air Filter $25
Exhaust Pipe, fab $30?
Muffler $???50???
Motor Mount, fab $30?
Belt $40
Starter/Gen mount, fab $30?
Misc Wiring $20

That's up to $270, plus your engine at $400 = $670 with room to spare.

Geoff has done enough of these, he should be able to steer you in the right direction. The most complicated part is getting the engine mounted and aligned. After that it's going to be a lot of fiddling around. With all the great people here on the forum, you'll be in good hands!

Looking forward to a build thread with lots of photos!!!
