Default 1980 ez go 420 project

This build is gonna be fun . I recently bought a predator 420 from harbor freight and today i scored a rear end out of a club car . I am gonna swap the rear end so i can have reverse.I am gonna put a 4" lift on it with 12"rims . I plan on building some nerf bars and a front brush guard. The cart does not have a top on it as well so i will have to build one of those as well. I am thinking about building some stainless trim pieces for it but have not decided on that . As soon as i get started on it i will get some pics uploaded for everybody to see. I really havnt seen alot of these carts switched over .what is the reason for that ?

Switching from electric to gas requires you to go buy the gas rear if you want reverse. That's why most people start with gas. Also, the gas carts already have a gas tank built in that is a much larger tank than came on your HF 420.

I put a gas engine in my electric cart, but I kept the electric rear as I don't need reverse. It wasn't worth the $$ to get reverse for me.

Advise on the build? Well, take your time and read from other's experience here. You can spend as much $$$$ or as little $ as you want for a build. Just prepare yourself in advance.

Good luck!

I have done this exact build. You will need me24 4 stroke axle, fnr gas txt shifter assembly, rear wheel spacers as the txt axle is shorter. New clutches for both the axle and motor.someone to fab the axle in, and fab a motor mount. And hours of free time to work on it.might have missed a few things.. i also went as far as doing a txt front body swap on my marathon.

Yeah it was a gas but i got the rear end out of a newer club car golf cart. I think i can do it all my self. I am unable to work on it right now due to a broken ankle. I think i am going to buy the comet 780 clutch.I have to find a clutch for the rear end as it did not come with one. I thought about making the motor mount like what vegas kart sells. Any opinions on the motor mount?
