CDI from a quad?
Soo Um whose to say we couldn't actually run a CDI system from aquad on the the 440?
I haven't done much other than thought yet but do they not just run base timing around 34 Deg or more and then pull it out with the electronics at idle and bring it on as rpm rises? |

Re: CDI from a quad?
Yes, but you must consider matching the fly wheel
number of magnets and such. |

Re: CDI from a quad?
Yea good point. The control module is going to be programed for the diameter and on time for the signal from the crank. this is actually really simple and will gain SHITLOADS of power if you care to do it.

Re: CDI from a quad?
I don't know about power, and you can use a new 'electronic' mag coil from a B&S that will change the timing a little.
What would be ideal is a GY6 or scooter ignition because you can buy them cheap. The issue is getting the stator or pickup installed on the clone. I want to try the stock G9 ignition on the clone but would have to make a disk with a window I think for the pickup, it appears to be a hall effect. The G9 runs at zero at idle and around 30 degree from 2500 on up. But if you have to buy it, its really expensive. |
