Default clone angle degree

Does anyone know what degree the angle should be for safe clone operation since these are a splash type oiling system?

I think they need to be as level as possible.

Mine is at 1 heck of an angle. When I got it from the guy ,first thing I did was ck.oil level and it ran out of the dip stick hole for quite a while.

Yeah, 15 degrees is the figure used in go kart racing.

In the For What It's Worth category, there are a bunch of custom, boardtracker-style motorized bicycle racers who run 212cc clones in their racers with the cylinder straight up, i.e. perfectly vertical. They run these bikes for hours like that and hundreds of miles and don't report any oil starvation issues. Amazing. They might run a little more oil than stock, but that is about it, as far as I know.

For some reason, 15° is sticking in my head too. I think I've read that here somewhere.

Geoff got back with me and he said he prefers level to 10° positive (cylinder pointing upward) for safe operating angle on these splash lube clones.
