Default Compression numbers

Alright, my GX420 has been broken in. Its got a good 12-14 hours of use on it, and just gave it its third oil change. Rode it for about half an hour, and did a compression test:

Dry: 81 PSI

Wet: 85 PSI

Stock internals, no governor, VC Fuel delivery setup, ARC Intake w/ K&N Filter

Was holding the throttle open when cranking.

Seems kind of low for an engine with an 8:1 CR, but yep thats what i got.

I thought the clones have a compression release built into the cam that holds the valves open a bit...

They do. Testing compression is tough on these engines.

Hmmm... Thats interesting. I thought certain performance cams had comp release on them, but maybe the stock one does.

The starters don't work so well without comp release. You have to let off the valve lash until it stops working, you can see it bump.

Why are they running compression releases on performance cams? When we raced Karts, that was the first thing done-away with.Even in a box-stock class.
