Driver clutch matching to Driven questions
Ok.. I've asked a dumb question about clutches already, but this one isn't as bad i hope lol.
If I use a comet 40 series driver clutch, like this one : http://www.ebay.com/itm/40-Series-To...-/190900372637 Will it be compatible with the stock driven clutch on my yamaha G22? I assume I'll have to buy a new belt, so taking that into consideration, can i use my driven or do I need to replace it as well? And along that line of questioning, what is the shaft size on the driven clutch on those ? I havent' pulled mine off so I can't measure it. If anyone knows off hand I'd appreciate it. Thanks! |

Re: Driver clutch matching to Driven questions
Chris,I don't think the 40 will work,a 780 will.I think the driven belt on a Yamaha is 1 3/16 wide.The Yamaha guys will chime in I'm sure.hookm

Re: Driver clutch matching to Driven questions
That is a gokart clutch, you would be much better off with the stock yamaha clutch. You need a clutch that is minimum 7" diameter and fits a 1 3/16 wide belt for a yamaha. That is usually a 94c or better. Some do use the 780 I don't know much about it since I don't think it was used on sleds. If you buy a 40 series secondary and get it to fit somehow you will have a lesser cvt than stock yamaha. Clubcar uses a 1" belt (atleast on older carts) and while it works ok for a stock cart its not so good when you try to beef them up. 1 3/16 is an industry standard of sorts, still used today, used on hundreds of sled models, could handle up to 100hp back in the 80s. And so you can get many size/types of belts for it too, reasonable, it will last much longer on a cart. I ran stock belt offroad on a lifted yamaha for years before I replaced. We used to take 6 hour long weekend rides on the trails.
