Default clone is very sluggish

Okay...got my cart all together and running about 2 weeks ago. Initially, the cart was running great with very good power and torque. Now it seems to be lacking in both. Also it takes a lot of time to even get it started, you have to feather the throttle back and forth before it will eventually start. These motors are new to me and hoping you guys can give me pointers as to what I need to look at and maybe adjust or replace to get the performance back.

It came with one but I blew that one up. It has another 420cc clone in it now with some improvements.

I would change the plug first but may be a timing issue..

If you haven't done so, check the valve lash.

I'm with Olman, sounds like the experience I had with valves on a tractor a couple years ago.

They can come with a junk plug in them, so first I'd buy a spark plug for it. If you changed anything on the airbox or exhaust you should jet the carb typically open up the main some and the idle see if you can get the screw working on the side by spacer. Also check the valve lash they can change once you run it some, set to .002-.004 (.004 is stock). Also check for fuel supply your pump is working well and so on.
