Default New 440 install rear clutch wont engage

I just installed Vegas Carts 440 and when we went to take it for the first run but the rear clutch will not engage so i am not getting the speed it should. Does anyone have any ideas what might be going on or some suggestions on what i could try

I'd pull the rear clutch off and check it over, check for worn sliders, etc. Also make sure you are actually getting full throttle.

I'm pretty sure I'm getting full throttle I'm hitting the stop where the throttle hits. I will have to try the other thing. It's just weird it worked fine before the clone swap

The secondary clutch doesn't engage, that's the job of the primary. Can you post a video?

Or you mean it is not shifting? Carts can need 3800 or so rpm to shift out and wont under that at full throttle. It can feel like the belt is slipping or something. A clone can run that stock no problem. Can you move the rear moving sheave by hand? If you think its an rpm thing you can test my holding the carb open with something, figure out how to do it safely of course, and do a test run with the engine governor defeated.

I will post a video tomorrow. I was under the impression the driven clutch opened up and the belt would drop down my primary clutch is opening a little but not all the way. Now I guess I have another question about the 440 I thought the governor was already removed I hooked my throttle cable directly to the bracket that is hooked to the carburetor with the rod and spring attached. I will also post pictures of my set up in the morning.

Stock primary clutches engage at around 1200 rpm or so. The primary clutch uses centrifugal force to move weights inside that push against the sheaves, which closes them. It's the force of the primary clutch that pushes the belt up. This action forces the belt down deeper into the secondary clutch. So I'd look to your primary clutch for proper operation. Take it off and disassemble it. Sounds like it isn't engaging properly. Clean it really good. Just a tiny bit of lube on the moving parts.

If the stock governor is still on the engine it will max out at around 3600 rpm, but you should get full shift out of the clutches way before that point.
