Default Clone Key/keyway issues

Pulled the flywheel off my 440 and found the key rolled over in the keyway. The key was smashed and almost unrecognizable. Going to order a new one from Geoff along with the cam, billet rod and dual valve springs. Might as well do it all at once.

They can be a real pain to get right. The best way to make sure they dont slip and take out the key is to clean up both mating surfaces REALLY well and then torque the flywheel to 80ft lbs. Havent had one slip since we raised the torque to 80 from 65.

Good to know, I ordered a new 8 degree key with the cam, springs and billet rod from you today. I assume I am going to need to make some changes to the jetting, any suggestions?

If its running fine now, you will have to richen the main jet 2 sizes, but dont do that until you get it running again and can test it.

After you get the cam/rod/springs installed, please let us know your impressions of how it runs. I have the same setup, just wanting some "backup" LOL. I think this setup would give a Vanguard powered cart a run for their money!

I hope it does, I just got to figure out something different for the exhaust. That RLV muffler is so loud. I have been looking for a street bike muffler to try out.

Someone on here used a 450 sized atv muffler and said it sounded much better. Overall db levels may not be a bunch lower, but the "cackle" will be better and it won't sound like a Harley. Right now with that muffler it's not much better than a straight pipe.

On a side note, my orig timing key broke also. When that happend, Geoff told me to use valve lapping compound on the flywheel and shaft and make sure there is no residue, oil leftover. I cleaned it with carb cleaner and wiped it down really good. It snugged up nicely. I am using the std timing key, but I have the 8 degree. Scared to use it, it looks pretty thin.

I know he'll beat me with that supercharger, but I think I'd do better than ya'll think. Anyway, it's just for fun. Wish I could have gone to CAW.
