Talking vegas cart specs 440 and 460

I been having a problem finding the spec between the two engines. what is the difference between these engines. I've search high and low everywhere and couldn't find the answer. I am planning to upgrade the motor to the max and was wondering if the vc460 already has most parts that are moded what else can i do to these engine to make the hp gain more imp ressive. fyi its for a airboat that I'm building

Sounds like a good start but you need right cam to make lots of power, but be careful as boats are WOT continuous and too much power is not good. You will likely have to keep rpm reasonable and then build it to run best at that rpm is how I would go about it. I would guess 5-6K rpm at most for WOT non-stop for a time, and good thing you have a good rod you will need it. I might talk to a cam maker to find out what would work best for a special application like that, and what timing to use, etc.

Thanks sho would be greatly appreciated. What I'm trying to do is build up enough horses to make a 12' aluminum boat run dry( on ground) with the vc460. What a sight that would be on a small engine. Probably needs a lot of torque power too

I would def get the cam from VC. I have that cam in my cart, and it's amazing how it really woke it up. It has much better pull at 4000 rpm, so if you are looking to run 5000 rpm or so, that would work well.

Trying to run on dry ground sounds like asking alot from that engine.

It's all in the prop and the flat bottom. The prop is matched to the engine, and designed to go a certain rpm. The boat, of course, has got to be the proper size too. Too big, no go. Not the right shape hull, no go.

I've seen air boats down in the everglades run up on shore, not very far, just to get it up out of the water. The off load people, load more people, then turn around and get back in the water. Pretty powerful though, full size 500 cid caddy engines on those beasts. But there are air boats of all sizes, from one man to 50 man models.

Here's one with a 15 hp engine.
