Default 460 VC clone G9 Drive clutch?

Can a Factory G9 Drive clutch handle a VC 460 Clone or should I just go ahead and spend the money on a comet clutch.

It will work fine. You'll need the adapter though.

I hit 37mph on my 420 clone with some mods, with a G9 clutch. You lose a little takeoff power but they work fairly well otherwise. I have a 94c to put on now and see how that does after some tuning I am sure it will require. I do have a cut sheave and HD kevlar belt that helps takeoff. Also have a umax secondary spring in there but wanting to take it out so I can sneak back from the bonfire quieter. With the 94 I should be able to run stock spring and still have harder takeoff as you can't tune the yami clutch much. I have drilled holes in the weights to lighten them but it does not do that much for it, just a little better. The cut sheave and wider HD belt helped a lot more I can pull the front tires off the ground 8" when its cooler out. The 1 3/16 belt is good for 100hp I'd think, with the right belt of course. The advantage with an aftermarket is you can change the engagement rpm, shift rpm. If you mod the clone with a cam you will want that because the cart clutch will run to low rpm. They shift around 3800-4K. G9 clutch has no spring in it. The only issue I have is the 94c I bought is for an ezgo and it sits closer to the engine, which is good it will give me more room in there, however I have to move my clone over to align the belt back up and I didn't engineer that into the current mount I made lol.

Thanks Sho. I forgot to ask Geoff if I would need to cut the shaft and retap. Guess I'll find out as soon as it comes in.

I had to with my 420 to get the clutch close to the block, or the recoil would not fit the gas tank and the carb barely misses the rear shock anyway. I cut it so the adapter sits against the shoulder of the crank and had to drill and tap deeper. I used the G9 bolt it was 3/8 fine thread or something like that, amazed it was not metric.
